Luxer 1.0 is officially done!
The only thing preventing me from releasing is the small things I need to do (document, clean forums, get site up, etc.), then, you will all have a working WAR3 bot!
Anyhow, I’d like to announce the official game plan for the next version of Luxer… 2!
- Completely redone UI and code
- Unity
- Custom-Command Access
- Web Interface… Batlle.net clans + UNITY = a better battle.net
- Web-based Chat
- Forum Signatures
No more sloppy code, no more sloppy UI. The final Luxer is going to be a shining jewel of the Macintosh, as well as Linux.
Like all great applications, it is time to add some UNITY to Luxer. My plan is to write a server (called “UNITY”) that will allow Luxer users to communicate and share, as well as download trivia questions and upload Chuck Norris jokes.
The main reason I could not get this feature in version 1.0 is because of my own sloppy code. However, in 2, this will not be a problem.
As a part of UNITY, you will be able to do amazing things with Luxer. A quick brainstorming proposes these features:
Get a free hosted, web-based chat room with optional password for your channel.
Now, how is that for sweet? Put your battle.net name, access level, clan channel, and maybe a brief chat history in an image that could become your forum signature.
There is bound to be tons new in the next version of Luxer, but I will keep it at that for the moment.
There is a small problem with UNITY… I need somebody to host it. It will be as simple as opening two ports to a computer and running a REALbasic program, but if I could get a Mac or Linux user who is willing to do that, it will save a lot of time. In order for me to use my own server for this, I will have to write the server in Java, which will take, shall we say, years.
So, if you’ve been too lazy to donate to Luxer, perhaps this is your chance to contribute to the project.
