Well, I guess I forgot to post this up, but here is my new custom built system:
2.13 Core 2 Duo, 4 MB L2
nVidia GeForce 7600
1 GB DDR2 Ram
510 GB of HD
I think I’ve also narrowed down the wonderful would of way to many games to a few categories.
- RTS: A real time strategy game is needed for everyone’s gaming arsenal. You need to command and conquer, but you need to use Starcraft. Let’s face it, this amazing game just can’t be topped. Until Starcraft 2 is released, I’ll stay a total Starcraft junkie.
- Realistic FPS: You need that tactical, realistic RTS to make yourself feel good about winning a 2 minute and 3o second round by camping the T spawn. Of course, the only game that comes close to meeting this criteria is Counterstrike: Source. It is an absolutely amazing game. With just the right amount of balancing between weapons and great sound engine (one of the few games I play with sound.) just can’t be beat.
- Unrealistic FPS: Every once and a while, we all feel the need to fire three rockets in a tight loop at our friends face. Don’t feel ashamed, we all do it. This is the category of games I like to call the unrealistic FPS… the kind you can play in some kind of tournament, say, an Unreal Tournament, maybe made in 2004. Yes, UT2004 is perhaps one of the most amazing games ever made. It’s just fun.
- The Tactical FPS: I also enjoy a game that allows me to make the front-line calls in a war. It moves away from the traditional deathmatch and do something else. The game is Day of Defeat: Source, once again provided by Steam. Give it a shot, its great.
- Turn-based tactical warfare: Nothing beats a good-ol-fashion risk like game. Each player takes a turn, play at any pace you want. It can be incredibly advance and complicated, like owning your own Civilization. Yes, Sid Meir’s is a genius, comparable to John Carmack. And Civ 4 is “freakin sweet.”
- MMORPG: You wanna get online, and hack apart some monsters, level up, and skill up. You need a MMO that makes you think, “Wow! This game is great!”, and “WoW! This game has great graphics!”, and “WoW! I could play this for hours!”. The game is Guild Wars: Nightfall. Without any retarded subscription fee, you can buy it once and play forever. As a WoW convert, I can truly attest to the coolness of this game.
